Herakles carrying the Erymanthian Boar
Lot 1184
UNCERTAIN. Uniface Plaquette (Silver, 19 mm, 1.31 g), circa 1st-2nd centuries. Herakles walking right, holding club upright in his right hand and carrying the slain Erymanthian Boar on his left shoulder. Rev. Blank. A nicely toned and beautifully engraved piece of splendid style. A few light marks, otherwise, about extremely fine.

This uniface silver plaquette was likely once mounted in a pendant or amulet. It shows a beautifully detailed image of Herakles' Fourth Labor, the capture of the Erymanthian Boar, whom the hero carries on his shoulders
